So AT&T really does have the fastest 3g network. By a LOT.

Granted, I have a slower windows mobile based 3g device. (which will only get me around 700kbps) But using it as a tethered modem I have easily gotten 1300+ kbps in Gainesville, Atlanta, and in Savannah.
